I juat wanted to say that i am glad to have found this website, as my mother has just been diagnosed with MRSA in her blood as well. she got it from a surgical wound. It is nice to have something to reference to, as i know nothing about this type of sickness. thank you for sharing.

Hi, Christina. I've just begun Marshall's MRSA story, being on "October 17th, 2004 in Marshall's Story - Part 3 - ICU".
I can tell I've got a long way to go...

Here at Nexen Inc in Dallas, a 14 year old son (Drew) of an employee (Jeff Coryell), came home from school on a Friday, and was dead by Tuesday from MRSA pneumonia. Now his father (my coworker) has MRSA (but not the pneumonia), and is in ICU.

On this day's journal, you say "We both would be miserable if our loved ones no longer cared to be around us for ANY reason, much less that they are afraid of “catching” something (that is not “catchable”)."

Regarding the "that is not 'catchable'" statement:
The discussions coming out about MRSA here due to the Coryell's case (major front page article Dallas Morning News), indictate that MRSA IS quite catchable, but that the pneumonia manifestation is not.

I'm wondering if later on in your journal you agree with what I have said here. As tempted as I am to go forward and read the END of the journal, I'm abstaining, since I want to feel the force of what you and your family have gone through.

Well, just wondered... and from time to time I may write again. Thanks for sharing your experience. I am afraid that it will become more valuable as time goes on and CB-MRSA becomes more prevalent.
